It’s easy to take off your clothes and have sex. People do it all the time. But opening up your soul to someone, letting them into your spirit, thoughts, fears, future, hopes, dreams… that is being naked.

Yup. Confession: sometimes I feel weird thinking/saying stuff like this. Probably because I struggle with sex positivity as I understand it versus sex (not-so-)positivity as I’ve sometimes seen it practiced (like, “We’re not going to come out and shame you in an obvious way for not being sexual/not being as sexual, but we’re going to hold up certain modes of sexual expression as goals/ideals without giving other modes the respect they deserve” type shit). Especially when the “acceptable” ways to be sexual don’t include me, even if identity markers I use are attached to them.

It’s a weird territory to navigate, particularly when I consider the saint vs. sinner, prude vs. slut* strands of my life (not just my sex life, but the whole damn thing) and the way they’ve been woven together.

[And for the record, I’d say it’s relatively easy to take off one’s clothes and have sex. Shit is so case-by-case.]

* Of course dichotomies are bullshit, but you knew that already. I am talking entirely too much now.
